{"id":12,"date":"2024-04-20T15:14:03","date_gmt":"2024-04-20T15:14:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/science4u.info\/2006\/?page_id=12"},"modified":"2024-07-13T18:12:36","modified_gmt":"2024-07-13T18:12:36","slug":"organising-group","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/science4u.info\/2006\/organising-group\/","title":{"rendered":"Organising Group"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Annual Schools Science Conference is organised by <strong>science4u.info<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 3rd event is Science at the Heart of the NHS 2005.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event\u2019s main objectives are to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Inspire students to study science<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrate the importance of science in health and everyday life<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Showcase some of the myriad careers open to those who study science.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference is exclusively presented by experienced professionals in the fields of science and healthcare, and attracts around 350 students from London secondary schools and further education colleges (years 9-11) along with their teachers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The backbone of the conference is made up of 80-100 enthusiastic volunteer scientists from various sectors, including NHS, academia, public sectors, industry, and commerce, who provide engaging hands-on displays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2006 organising group comprised:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"organisinggroup wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Don Henderson<\/strong><br>Consultant Clinical Scientist, Hammersmith Hospitals NHS Trust<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sue Alexander&nbsp;<\/strong><br>Principal Biomedical Scientist &amp; Pathology Services Manager, Royal Marsden NHS Trust<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Manfred Almeida<\/strong><br>Lead Biomedical Scientist, Microbiology, Hammersmith Hospitals NHS Trust<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Danya Cohen<\/strong><br>Medical Microbiology Divisional Manager, Hammersmith Hospitals NHS Trust<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Chrystalla Ferrier<\/strong><br>Project Manager&nbsp;(Multidisciplinary Biomedical Science Training Scheme), St Mary&#8217;s NHS Trust and the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Trust<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Suzanne Hilton<\/strong><br>AHP+HCS Programme Lead, NWL WDC<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Alex Javed<\/strong><br>Laboratory Manager, Histopathology, Royal Marsden Hospital NHS Trust<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Georgina Lavender<\/strong><br>Deputy Head BMS, Clinical Biochemistry, Harefield Hospital NHS Trust<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Chris Wynne<\/strong><br>Biomedical Scientist and Advisor to the Working Group<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Annual Schools Science Conference is organised by science4u.info The 3rd event is Science at the Heart of the NHS 2005.
