{"id":20,"date":"2024-04-20T15:32:48","date_gmt":"2024-04-20T15:32:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/science4u.info\/2012\/?page_id=20"},"modified":"2024-07-13T20:14:21","modified_gmt":"2024-07-13T20:14:21","slug":"organising-group","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/science4u.info\/2012\/organising-group\/","title":{"rendered":"Organising Group"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Annual Schools Science Conference is organised by <strong>science4u.info<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 9th event, Science for Gold, is produced in collaboration with The Royal College of Pathologists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event\u2019s main objectives are to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Inspire students to study science<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrate the importance of science in health and everyday life<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Showcase some of the myriad careers open to those who study science.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference is exclusively presented by experienced professionals in the fields of science and healthcare, and attracts around 350 students from London secondary schools and further education colleges (years 9-11) along with their teachers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The backbone of the conference is made up of 80-100 enthusiastic volunteer scientists from various sectors, including NHS, academia, public sectors, industry, and commerce, who provide engaging hands-on displays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2012 organising group comprised:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"organisinggroup wp-block-list\">\n<li>Don Henderson (Founder)<br>  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kimberly Gilmour (Chairman)<br>Great Ormond Street Hospital For Children NHS Trust<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sue Alexander (Secretary)<br>The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Manfred Almeida (Treasurer)<br>Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sarah Armstrong<br>The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mike Carter<br>The Health Protection Agency<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Georgina Lavender (Press Lead)<br>georgina\u2019s science<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rebecca Macrae<br>Barts and The London NHS Trust<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sharon Gage (Event Organiser)<br>SRG Project Management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Annual Schools Science Conference is organised by science4u.info The 9th event, Science for Gold, is produced in collaboration with The Royal College of Pathologists.
