Wednesday 22nd April 2026
Science for the Sports is the 23rd Annual Schools Science Conference created by science4u and is produced in collaboration with University of Westminster
This annual conference strives to:
- Encourage students to pursue studies in science
- Demonstrate the significance of science in health and everyday life
- Showcase some of the exciting and rewarding careers open to those who study science.

This year’s theme, Science for Sports, is about unlocking human potential and learning from each other.
With the Winter Olympics, Commonwealth Games, and the World Cup all taking place in 2026, it’s the perfect moment to explore the science behind sporting excellence.
This year’s Schools Science Conference will explore how the body’s systems – muscular, skeletal, respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological – work together to fuel peak athletic performance. But it’s not just about gold medals and world records. The same cutting-edge science behind elite athletes also shapes how we stay fit, recover from injuries, and live healthier lives.
From game-changing technologies and sports psychology to nutrition, physiotherapy, and injury prevention, Science for Sports will reveal how healthcare scientists are the hidden champions behind both top-tier athletes and everyday wellbeing. Whether you’re into sprinting, swimming, or simply staying active, this is where science meets sport – and the results are extraordinary.
We hope you will join us at the conference.
If your school would like to take part, please contact Sharon Gage stating how many places you would like.
